A Big Welcome from the Blues Foundation

Hello this is Barbara Newman, President and CEO of The Blues Foundation, coming to you from Memphis, TN – the home of the blues!

The Blues Foundation is very excited to partner with Childline Rocks and the Sons of Royalty for its 10th Great British Pilgrimage. As the international organization with the mission to preserve blues heritage, celebrate blues recording and performance, expand worldwide awareness of the blues, and ensure the future of this uniquely American artform, The Blues Foundation recognizes and honors the impact the blues has had on our brothers and sisters in the UK and beyond, and we look forward to welcoming all the riders to Memphis on May 7th for the Blues Music Awards and the 40th anniversary of The Blues Foundation.

But first, we will be working with the leaders of this pilgrimage to help connect its riders to blues clubs and blues artists along the way as you celebrate this important musical form which opened the doors to so many great British musicians.

I’ll be based here near the Mississippi Delta and Beale Street watching from afar and awaiting your arrival in Memphis this coming May, and I look forward to celebrating the blues with you as you make your journey across America to the blues heartland!
